How can CMH offer 'The World's Greatest Skiing' with several operators in the same areas?
Simple: CMH were there first, they had the first choice, and they chose the best terrain.
CMH Heli-Skiing founder, Hans Gmoser, was the leading force in establishing the policy dictating heli-ski operations and tenures. His involvement in shaping the entire industry further solidifies CMH's position as the leading Heli-Ski operator in North America, if not the world.
The heli-ski areas are located in the Columbia Mountains, home to some of the best snow conditions in the world. Take for instance Revelstoke: nearby Mt. Fidelity is home to the snowiest weather station in Canada: it receives the country’s highest annual average, 1471 cm (almost 50 feet) of snow, and the peak gets 144 days of snowfall per year, more than anywhere else in the country!
There is some variation in snowfall from lodge to lodge, but snow is abundant everywhere. All CMH Heli-Ski areas offer both high alpine glacier skiing and world renowned tree skiing.
